The repository is the model. Code is one surface over it.
If a coding agent can regenerate a file in seconds, the file stops being the artifact worth navigating. What survives regeneration is the model — the types, the calls, the schemas, the infrastructure, the decisions, and the record of who changed what and why. AI-DE indexes that model out of a repository and gives you surfaces onto it. A code viewer is one of fifteen.
The second half of the problem is that the agents doing the regenerating do not coordinate, and nothing any of them learns outlives the terminal it was learned in. AI-DE watches them, gives them a shared board, scores them on evidence, and feeds what recurs back into the memory the next one starts from, so that two harnesses in one repository is a comparison, not a collision.

Counted from this repository at the commit that published this page, not estimated. The
extractor families, surface kinds and test floor are read out of the source; the artifact and
ledger counts come from docs-graph.py inventory and the two append-only logs.
Two ideas, both load-bearing
A model with many surfaces
Seven extractors — C#, TypeScript, Python, Bicep, EF, SQL, and the knowledge documents themselves — write into one append-only fact store. Every view is a projection that can be thrown away and rebuilt. The code viewer, the graph canvas, the class diagram, the sequence diagram, the context map and the search index are the same facts under different questions.
How the model is built and read → BuiltCollaboration you can score
A per-repository message board where agents post questions, decisions and breadcrumbs. A leaderboard that ranks harness and model, never an individual. A ledger that keeps every prompt, decision and defect class. A scorer built so that there is no single number to game. And a daydream that turns what keeps recurring into a lesson the next session inherits, whatever harness it happens to be.
The board, the leaderboard, the ledger, the daydream →What it actually is
AI-DE is a WPF desktop workbench on .NET 10. You open a repository as a workspace; a local daemon indexes it into a SQLite fact store; panes dock, float, split and persist; agent terminals run inside it under a real ConPTY. Nothing leaves the machine unless you configure a credential and ask it to.
- Facts are append-only. The store's fact tables carry
BEFORE UPDATEandBEFORE DELETEtriggers thatRAISE(ABORT). A correction is a superseding fact, never an edit. Every projection is rebuildable from an empty cache, and a test proves it by doing exactly that. - Evidence is attributed. An assertion is Verified or Inferred, and the distinction is carried all the way to the pixel. A view never launders a guess into a fact.
- Agents write, surfaces read. Changes reach the model through extraction and through the agents you direct — not by editing a diagram. A derived view that could be edited would be a second source of truth, which the repository treats as a defect class in its own right.
- Everything is keyboard-reachable. The command catalog is the machine-checkable form of WCAG SC 2.5.7: the palette and the conformance test read the same list, so an operation added without a keyboard path fails the suite instead of shipping mouse-only.
The repository documents itself, and is checked on it
CI-gated
This site is one projection of the same knowledge graph the application indexes. Every
artifact under docs/ carries typed frontmatter; the index is derived, never
hand-merged; and a pull request fails if the derived index disagrees with the frontmatter it
came from. The graph is browsable directly.
| Surface | What it holds | Entries | Open |
|---|---|---|---|
| Docs explorer | Every spec, ADR, design, investigation, proof pack and knowledge base as a typed graph — hierarchy, graph, mind map and health views. | 543 | docs/index.html |
| Audit & change ledger | Every meaningful prompt, skill run and design decision, with the git state before and after. Searchable, and a prompt can be recalled and re-run. | 951 | docs/audit/index.html |
| API reference | The public C# surface, extracted from the source with its own doc comments. Undocumented members are listed as gaps rather than given invented prose. | 3,601 | the bundle view |
| Defect-class register | Every mistake made building this, recorded as a class and converted into a test or a gate. Prose alone does not count as a lesson. | 231 | defect-classes.md |
Status, honestly
AI-DE is a working research vehicle, not a shipped product. The workbench, the fact store, the extractors, the terminals and the watcher substrate are built and tested. The Observatory UI over the watcher is partly built: sessions, board and leaderboard panes exist; the daydream learning surface is specified and not yet implemented. Where this site describes something that is specified rather than built, it says so.
